Volunteer Roles & Job Descriptions
Volunteer to welcome athletes to the Games, Sporting Venues and designated hotels. You will be sharing daily information such as sport schedules, bus schedules, meal service times and special event information
Comfortable interacting with others, organizational skills an asset
Volunteer to help ensure that all 986 participants will be provided an awesome breakfast / lunch / dinner during the sport competitions. This role includes setup, serving and cleanup at various venues.
Previous food handling experience preferred but not required
Volunteer to help spread the word about the Games and create the 2019 Athletes Village. This role will help with assorted marketing & communication projects and work in a team atmosphere setting up signage for special events and competitions
Comfortable interacting with others and can work alone and as part of a team. Marketing and events experience preferred but not required.
Calling all local area medical practitioners, physiotherapists, sports therapists and emergency responders! Volunteer to be part of the medical response team and join us courtside, rink side, (at the field of play)… throughout the event. In the event of a medical emergency provide immediate assistance. If further medical treatment is needed call 911 for serious injuries or instruct the team coach, trainer, sport manager on how to access further medical care through emergency services.
Valid practitioners license, First Aid and / or CPR certificate. AED training is an asset but not required
Volunteer to help keep the traffic moving in and out of the Canada Summit Centre & HHS parking lot during sport competitions and Special events.
Calling all shutterbugs! Volunteer to help capture the action of the games at Sporting venues and special events.
Professional equipment and photography experience is an asset but not mandatory.
Volunteer to help Check In and Register our participants, help to distribute welcome packages and / or provide on-site support at the sporting venues and special events.
Comfortable interacting with others, organization skills an asset.
Interested in helping with Opening Ceremonies or Middle Night Event? Volunteer to help with logistics onsite for each special event and help provide memorable experiences for everyone involved!
Enthusiastic and comfortable interacting with others. Some roles will need to be able to lift / move items up to 25lbs in weight. (ie. chairs, tables, décor, signage)
Ambassadors are assigned to each sport and spend the day with their teams acting as tour guide, concierge, and number 1 fan. They dine, travel and cheer the teams on during competition!
Distribute the medals to the various venues for presentation by the games officials. Assist the games official with the presentation of medals to the athletes.
Volunteer to be a part of the Sport team and help to officiate one of the competitions.
Some sports require accreditation to officiate, experience in a recreational or professional sport league is a strong asset.
All competitions will follow the game rules specific to the OSGA 55+ Organization.
Assist the Transportation and Security leads with the coordination of transportation services for athletes and officials back and forth from accommodations to venues, as well as opening ceremony transportation coordination.
Strong communication and organizational skills are an asset. Must be able to stay contact with headquarters and transportation providers by cell phone / radio
